Be sure to save your eCRV ID number and Edit PIN number when the system prompts you.

The State of Minnesota may use the CRV for the following reasons:

  • Verify sales ratios for each region, by classification, to determine whether a state increase will be mandated at the State Board of Equalization
  • Data provided on the form in comparison to records maintained at the County is used in the calculation of State Education Aid formulas
  • Social Security numbers assist the Income Tax Division in monitoring capital gains

A CRV is not required when the conveyance of property is made to the State of Minnesota, a political subdivision of the state, or any combination of them for highway or roadway purposes as long as the political subdivision agrees to file a list of all properties conveyed to them with the Commissioner of Revenue by June 1 of each year.

To avoid the requirement of filing a CRV, the deed must contain specific terminology such as: The total consideration for this transfer of property is $1,000 or less.
